Avoid these common mistakes:
Financial aid applications are tax year specific. Tax year 2025 will be requested as part of your 2027-28 aid applications (typically available October 1). Students requesting an early financial aid estimate prior to October 1: Complete the currently available application (Fall 2026/Spring 2027) with 2025 IRS tax figures. To be clear, the application will ask for 2024 IRS tax information, but for the purpose of this estimate, it should be completed with 2025 IRS tax information. Students requesting an early financial aid estimate on or after October 1: Complete the Fall 2027/Spring 2028 application with IRS tax information as requested on the form (2025). All students who apply for need-based aid will be required to complete both the Fall 2027/Spring 2028 CSS Profile and the 2027-28 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to receive a confirmed 2027-28 financial aid offer.
At Trinity University, students have the option to submit or not submit standardized test scores (ACT or SAT) as part of their application. Applicants who choose not to submit test scores—or who are unable to do so—will receive full consideration in our holistic admission review. Our test-optional policy reflects Trinity’s commitment to access and equity. While standardized tests can provide useful information about academic readiness, we believe that a student’s potential for success at Trinity is best understood through a broad review of their academic journey, achievements, and personal qualities.
When submitting your application, the selection is made to apply test optional or to apply with test scores for consideration. Each applicant has up to the application deadline selected to alter this choice.
Early Decision 1 and Early Action applicants can submit a change to the test optional choice up to November 1.
Early Decision 2 and Regular Decision applicants can submit a change to the test optional choice up to February 1.
